NGOs slam delay to French climate strategy

French environmental groups have criticised the government's decision to delay a new national climate change strategy until next year. WWF, Greenpeace and Climate action network said important measures such as reducing speed limits on motorways and providing funds for councils to improve urban transport, had already been dropped. The plan could become merely a public relations exercise, they fear. Ministerial disagreements over transport and energy efficient housing initiatives have been responsible for the latest delay, they claim. The strategy is now due for release at the end of January.
