Europe's PVC industry has hurriedly pulled from the web a report rebutting Greenpeace criticisms about phthalate plasticisers in Disney childrenswear after realising that it had not been meant for publication. The sector is considering a request from the environmental group to see the document (EED 23/09/04).
Entitled "Have no fear of Disneywear", the eight-page rebuttal paper was produced by the American chemistry council phthalate esters panel and put on an industry intranet. It was posted on the web by Denmark's PVC information council. "I made a mistake", said an embarrassed Ole Grøndahl Hansen. "I thought it was publicly available."
