Council of ministers backs Commission plan to integrate environmental issues into standardisation

EU governments have endorsed a European Commission plan for integrating environmental aspects into standardisation. The Commission tabled its proposals in February. It has already launched follow-up actions, such as stakeholder conferences to examine practical ways forward (EED 14/06/04).

The council conclusions reinforce the Commission's approach of bringing environmental issues into focus while maintaining the voluntary nature of the standardisation process.
