Five days of frantic stakeholder debate see industry critics of Reach launch further attacks

Industry groups have returned to the offensive on the potential costs of implementing the EU Reach chemicals regulation during one of the most intense weeks yet for stakeholder debate on the reform, including a series of conferences and new reports.

On Thursday, trade body Eurocommerce released a study suggesting that the EU's retail, wholesale and international trading sectors would face direct costs of around €900m under the current Reach proposals. It also forecast additional as yet unquantifiable indirect costs, but said these would probably be much lower.
