Bright future for Dutch eco-efficiency campaign?

"Clean, clever, competitive" slogan set to outlive the Netherlands' presidency as UK, Luxembourg, express interest in continuing initiative

A coalition of industry, governments and the European Commission looks set to continue Dutch EU presidency efforts to promote environmentally friendly technologies beyond the end of the year.

The Dutch environment ministry this week held an informal meeting with business groups, including Unice and the World business council for sustainable development, on ways to continue the Netherlands' "Clean, clever and competitive" eco-efficiency campaign when it hands over the EU presidency reins in January 2005 (02/07/04). Representatives from the Commission's environment and industry directorates were also present.
