EU Lisbon strategy review gets underway

The European Commission has begun preparing recommendations to EU governments on the future of the bloc's Lisbon strategy. A special group of commissioners headed by Commission president José Manuel Barroso met for the first time in Strasbourg on Tuesday. Environmental group EEB urged the group to "green" the Lisbon strategy and called on it to recognise the recent Kok report's conclusion that environmental protection has a large potential to deliver eco-innovation (EED 25/10/04). See European Commisison Lisbon strategy pages and EEB press release.
