EU company green reporting framework reviewed

European Commission asked to help expand environmental elements in financial reports

The European Commission should support further steps by companies to integrate their financial and environmental reporting, according to a report to the European Commission. The recommendation was discussed at a recent workshop organised by the European federation of accountants (FEE).

The workshop was held to discuss implementation of a 2001 EU recommendation on the inclusion of environmental issues in companies' annual reports and financial accounts. A review by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that no EU-15 state has fully implemented the recommendation, but that it has served as useful inspration for progress (EED 12/06/01).
