Power firms push for change in carbon trading

Eurelectric sets out agenda for upcoming EU review of emission trading scheme, Kyoto linking directive

Power sector association Eurelectric has suggested changes to the EU emissions trading scheme and the "Kyoto linking" directive ahead of an official review of the two instruments expected from the European Commission next year.

In the second phase of emissions trading, running 2008-12, Eurelectric argues, the definition of combustion plant should be made clearer and brought more into line with that in the EU's large combustion plants directive. The issue is already on the Commission's political radar (EED 08/07/05).
