Spain warned to curb rising energy demand

Spain must strengthen efforts to improve energy efficiency to help rein in spiralling greenhouse gas emissions, the International energy agency said on Tuesday. In its latest review of Spanish energy policy, the agency called for improved enforcement of energy labelling for appliances, an extension of advanced metering and comprehensive measures for greener urban mobility. While complimenting the country's performance on boosting renewable energy, it warned of a need to ensure that the renewables promotion is cost-effective. See press release.
