EU energy consultation reaches "milestone"

Conference clarifies stakeholder positions on European energy efficiency and renewable energy policies

The EU has passed a milestone in a consultation process for new energy efficiency policies, energy commissioner Andris Piebalgs declared on Friday at a conference in Amsterdam.

The meeting brought together government representatives, EU institutions and energy experts. The commission is due to issue an action plan next year, following an energy efficiency green paper tabled last June and a consultation ending in March (EED 22/06/05).
