Management systems "boost green performance"

International survey finds corporate environmental management systems contribute to green improvements

Companies operating a good environmental management system (EMS) are more likely to achieve better environmental performance, according to an international survey.

Despite the growing popularity of the ISO 14001 EMS standard in particular, this is one of the first studies to claim such a link. An EU investigation this summer found no correlation between adoption of the more demanding Emas standard and environmental performance (EED 03/08/05).
