EU printed paper ecolabel criteria imminent

Final draft of label details standards required for publishers and printers to apply for EU flower

The European Commission has published a final draft of proposed criteria to award the EU’s flower ecolabel to printed paper products. The product group includes paper stationery, magazines, books and leaflets. An EU regulatory committee will vote on the criteria on 7 December.

Developed by the same team of Swedish experts behind the Nordic Swan ecolabel for the same product group, the EU flower will apply to paper products made with any of seven different printing processes, including sheet-fed and heat-set offset and rotogravure.
