Holland "to miss air quality limits by a decade"

National analysis of Cafe air quality strategy says 2010 limits on particulates and nitrogen oxide still well out of sight

The Netherlands will miss by a margin of ten years binding EU targets to curb particulate and nitrogen oxide air pollution by 2010, according to the Dutch environmental assessment agency (MNP).

The prediction comes in an agency assessment of the national implications of the EU’s Cafe air quality strategy. Launched last month, Cafe groups together existing air quality targets for 2010, sets ambition levels for further cuts by 2020 and sets out possible policies to achieve them (EED 21/09/05).
