Europe's regulators make case for green policy

Competitive economy and healthy environment "not mutually exclusive" say 29 European environment agencies

Good environment policy enhances business competitiveness, according to a group of 29 European environmental protection agencies (EPAs). The agencies argue their case in a joint position paper launched by the European environment agency last Thursday.

The paper is tabled as a "contribution to the current debate" on the importance of environment policy in a European political climate perceived by some to have marginalised it in favour of narrowly-focussed economic growth policies.
