Ministers adopt EU energy efficiency manifesto

Energy council responds to European commission green paper on future energy saving policy

EU energy ministers have urged the European commission to develop an "ambitious and realistic" action plan on energy efficiency next year to implement ideas it tabled in a green paper in June (EED 22/06/05).

In a resolution adopted in Brussels on Thursday the energy council also said energy efficiency should also be "explicitly covered" in proposals due soon from the commission to revise the EU's sustainable development strategy.
