European commission announces infringement proceedings over biofuels and energy labelling rules

The European commission has announced court proceedings against Luxembourg, Portugal and Italy and a final legal warning to Slovakia over a series of alleged failures to implement, the EU's 2003 biofuels directive. It is sending first written warnings to 16 states over deficiencies in national reporting on the directive's implementation. Separately on Tuesday, the EU executive announced court action against Portugal and Luxembourg for failures to implement directives from 2002 and 2003 on energy labelling of domestic appliances.
