EU sustainable resource use strategy published

Commission proposes 20-year programme of actions to move policy "from ideology to methodology"

The European commission has unveiled two thematic strategies aimed at revolutionising EU resource use and waste management. The second, on waste prevention and recycling (see separate article), attacks the waste phase of resource management.

Presenting the strategies in Brussels on Wednesday, environment commissioner Stavros Dimas said they would create an "overarching approach" to resource policy and "redirect" EU waste treatment practices.
