Stern report draws criticism as well as praise

Review of climate change economics fires demands for early action, but leaves some economists cold

World climate change talks got under way in Nairobi, Kenya, on Monday, with the conclusions of Britain’s Stern report on the economics of climate change ringing in the ears of delegates.

"The recent Stern report shows it makes perfect economic sense for us to act as quickly as possible," the European commission said in a statement on the Nairobi talks issued on Monday.

Among professional economists - Nicholas Stern’s own profession – however, reactions have included criticisms as well as praise.
