Commission falls into line on Euro 6 NOx limit

Revised assessment supports early decision on next generation diesel NOx limits, EU executive concludes

The European commission "endorsed" extra EU curbs on diesel vehicle nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions on Tuesday.  The announcement confirms that the EU executive has finally given in to pressure from governments and the European parliament for the shift.

When it proposed Euro 5 vehicle emission standards last December the commission rejected calls to include even an even stricter Euro 6 norm for NOx from diesel vehicles (EED 21/12/05).
