UN climate talks make "constructive start"

 Progress on issues like adaptation can help build confidence to debate post-2012 framework, says UN chief 

International climate change talks in Nairobi, Kenya, have made "a very constructive start" UN climate chief Yvo de Boer said on Monday.  Parties to the UN climate change convention and its Kyoto protocol are halfway through a fortnight of talks (EED 03/11/06).

Mr de Boer told journalists he thought finalisation of a 5-year adaptation plan and an adaptation fund would be two big successes of the current meeting.
