Rules on EU competitiveness fund published

From 2007 funds for projects aimed at greening the economy will come from a single programme

Rules on EU funding over the next seven years to help bring innovative products to market are set to enter force on 29 November after being published in the official journal.  The competitiveness and innovation programme (CIP) puts a significant emphasis on efforts to protect the environment and achieve sustainable use of natural resources.

Overall, the CIP will disburse €3.6bn between 2007 and 2013, nearly two-thirds going on an "entrepreneurship and innovation" sub-programme.  The remainder will be split evenly between information and communication technology and "intelligent energy for Europe".
