Voluntary carbon market "set to explode"

Offsetting could grow forty-fold between 2005 and 2010, forecasts market

The global market for voluntary carbon offsets could grow by as much as forty-fold between 2005 and 2010 to reach 400m tonnes per year, according to an assessment by climate consulting firm ICF.

The astonishing projected growth rate is due to a combination of factors, ICF says in a client report.  Companies, governments and consumers are all getting involved in the market.  And several different market drivers are intensifying the growth trend.
