EU unveils plan to make small firms greener

Commission scheme aims at better environmental information and increased use of EU funding to reduce impact

The European commission has unveiled a plan to reduce the environmental impact of small and medium size businesses (SMEs) and boost their compliance with EU environmental legislation.

Published on Monday, the plan coincides with a review of EU efforts to increase the competitiveness of these firms (see link below). It contains measures for increasing SMEs' awareness of environmental issues through training and better information networks.
