Energy commissioner "strongly disagrees" with UK parliament report branding EU biofuel policy "misguided and reckless"

The European commission was forced to defend the EU's policies to promote biofuels on Monday following the publication of a second highly critical report in less than a week.

Earlier in the day a report by the UK parliament's environmental audit committee (EAC) described the EU's drive to increase the use of biofuels as a replacement for fossil-derived transport fuels was "misguided". On Wednesday the European commission will propose a 10 per cent share for biofuels.
