Commission reveals 2009 policy strategy

Final year of current mandate will be one of policy consolidation and important climate talks

The European commission will focus next year on following up major environment policies launched in 2008, according to its annual policy strategy for 2009, published on Wednesday.

The commission will continue work aiming to "galvanise Europe's transition to a low-emissions and resource-efficient economy", the strategy says.  Its main priority will be driving through new EU climate and energy legislation announced last month (EED 23/01/08).
