MEPs urge more ambitious EU climate measures

Temporary climate change committee says global warming "more rapid and serious" than previously thought

The EU can and must do more to tackle climate change, MEPs say in a resolution adopted by the European parliament's temporary committee on climate change on Tuesday.

The resolution closely follows a draft presented by rapporteur Karl-Heinz Florenz in mid-September (EED 17/09/08) and will now be debated and voted on by the assembly's plenary body in February. It is the final output of the committee, which will now be dissolved.
