Ministers agree EU energy product law change

Energy ministers reach informal deal on ecodesign law extension;  finalisation unlikely soon

EU energy ministers reached an informal agreement on Monday to extend the bloc's ecodesign law to items that do not consume energy directly but whose design influences energy consumption.

In a "general approach" reached in Brussels under the French presidency, the council backed changes proposed by the European commission in July as part of a wider package of measures to boost sustainable consumption and production (EED 16/07/08).
