Poland obstructs EU talks on climate financing

Member states' contributions to financing climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts in developing countries should not be based on how much CO2 they emit, Polish finance minister told journalists on Friday.

"From our point of view, it is totally unacceptable that the poor countries of Europe should help the rich countries of Europe to help pay the poor countries of the rest of the world," Mr Jan Rostowski said at an informal meeting of finance ministers in Sweden.
