Internal EU debate holds up bunker fuel proposals

Disagreement among member states on the level of ambition and base year for potential emission reduction targets for international aviation and shipping has held up an EU proposal at international climate talks in Bangkok, Thailand, this week.

Discussions on these issues will continue next week, a source in Bangkok told ENDS. Sweden and European Commission refused to confirm earlier media reports that the EU is calling for a 10% and 20% reduction below 2005 levels by 2020 for aviation and shipping respectively.
