Improving European waste management rules must be a priority for member states when transposing the revised waste framework directive, senior officials from the European Commission's environment department said last week.
Member states have until December 2010 to transpose the directive into national law. Several countries including Germany, France, the Czech Republic and the UK are already "actively preparing" for transposition, an official told ENDS on Monday.
