Better funding for greener transport enters force

An EU regulation granting transport firms easier access to a larger pot of money under the Marco Polo funding scheme, which aims to boost greener freight, will enter force on Saturday.

Under the new rules, agreed by the EU Council of Ministers and European Parliament in April, more firms will be entitled to apply for the funds. The European Commission will also set up an online helpdesk to help them with their applications.
