British manufacturers urge waste strategy rethink

The UK government must radically change its waste strategy to drive sustainable development and cut costs to businesses, British manufacturers' association EEF said on Tuesday. The 2007 strategy has not led to clear improvements in waste management, it explains.

EEF calls for "a clear and long-term resource management strategy" and simplified waste legislation and guidance. Other recommendations include support to help businesses improve their resource efficiency through eco-design, process re-engineering and R&D funding.
