EU ministers 'must set ecological footprint goal'

Environment ministers meeting in Luxembourg next week must set a goal of halving Europe's ecological footprint within 20 years in a forthcoming resolution on an eco-efficient economy, the European Environment Bureau (EEB) has said.

The ministers are expected to adopt the resolution, based on a Swedish presidency report published in July. It will build on previous ministerial discussions on the subject at an informal meeting in Sweden earlier this year.
