UK challenge to MMT limit in EU fuel quality law

A British company has launched a legal challenge against an EU-wide limit on the metallic fuel additive MMT in petrol. The limit was adopted earlier this year as part of a revision of the fuel quality directive.

MMT maker Afton Chemical Ltd is seeking an injunction in the High Court of England and Wales to prevent the limit's implementation in Britain. The firm says the limit is unlawful, arguing it breaches several key EU principles such as the principle of equal treatment.
