Barroso urged to 'walk the talk' on green transport

European Commission president José Manuel Barroso must back a proposal to reduce carbon emissions from new vans if he wants to keep his promise to decarbonise the EU transport sector during his second mandate, environmentalists have said.

The proposal is due to be published on 28 October, according to the commission's latest policy agenda. In a letter on Wednesday, green groups T&E and Greenpeace urged Mr Barroso to stick to the commission's initial emission reduction targets.
