Revised EU energy efficiency plan faces delay

The publication of a revised EU energy efficiency action plan could be postponed until early next year, ENDS has learned. The European Commission's energy department, which is leading the revision process, is considering binding national efficiency targets.

The revised plan was originally expected to be released by the end of the year. But José Manuel Barroso's office is reluctant to publish it in the final days of the current commission's mandate because of the radical policy changes it may propose, ENDS understands.
