The UK's Carbon Trust launched a new £15m (€16.75m) scheme on Monday to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions from Britain's manufacturing sector. The four-year scheme could save businesses up to €560m in energy costs, the agency said.
The Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) programme will fund the research and demonstration of new "low-carbon manufacturing processes". Fifty projects are already planned over the next four years, including the development of cold-mix asphalt, and a new method of heating plastic for bottle making.
