A new EU-US energy council to deepen the transatlantic dialogue on strategic energy issues, including policies to move towards low-carbon energy sources and combat climate change, was announced in Washington D.C. at the annual EU-US summit on Tuesday.
"I want to see energy security and climate change centre stage in all our partnerships around the world, and it is the right moment to step up our cooperation with the US," EU foreign affairs commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner said.
