Austria only EU state set to miss Kyoto target

All EU member states except Austria are set to meet their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets under the Kyoto Protocol, according to the latest projections from the European Environment Agency (EEA), released on Thursday.

Austria is projected to have greenhouse gas emissions 12.9% higher than its commitment for 2008-2012. The excess comes largely from sectors not in the EU emission trading scheme (ETS), such as households and transport.
