Italian photovoltaic sector issues post-2010 plea

Three bodies representing the solar photovoltaic (PV) and renewable energy sectors in Italy have asked for a long-term support mechanism to boost the PV sector after the current subsidy system expires in 2010.

In a document addressed to the Italian government, which is due to review the existing “Conto Energia” system by the end of 2009, the association of renewable energy producers (APER) and two PV bodies say the government must abandon annual subsidy ceilings and replace them with an overall cap for the 2011-15 period.
