Danish bid to find compromises on climate deal

A select group of around forty environment ministers are meeting in Copenhagen on Monday and Tuesday to find compromises on a post-2012 global climate agreement in the run-up to December's UN climate summit in the Danish capital.

The meeting is an initiative of Danish climate and energy minister Connie Hedegaard, who has been tipped as a possible new EU climate commissioner. It is a "chance to really get to the heart of the discussions… because we do not have much time left," Ms Hedegaard told journalists.
