Safety concerns raised over new nuclear reactors

Greenpeace on Friday warned of "serious safety flaws" in the design of two new nuclear reactors being built in France and Finland. It called on the governments of these countries to immediately halt construction of the plants.

Independent expert analysis shows the design of the European pressurised reactor (EPR), developed by French company Areva, fails to adequately separate the reactor's normal control systems from its safety systems, according to Greenpeace.
