EU mulls post-Lisbon strategy for greener growth

The European Commission is preparing a strategy for a greener, more competitive European economy to secure growth in the years that will follow the current economic crisis. A consultation on the plan was launched on Tuesday.

The commission will put forward a proposal to the European Council next spring. It will succeed the EU's Lisbon strategy for growth and jobs. In October, environment ministers said achieving an eco-efficient economy should be a key objective of a post-Lisbon strategy.
