Checks carried out by the UK's environment ministry on a range of household appliances have revealed that many items tested do not meet performance levels displayed on their labels. The energy performance of washer/driers is of particular concern.
The checks showed that six of 24 washer/driers tested by the ministry's Market Transformation Programme did not comply with the energy standards on their labels. The items were in fact less efficient than what the manufacturers had claimed, according to the ministry.
