Polish city criticised over recycling scheme closure

Green group CEE Bankwatch has criticised a decision from the Polish city of Bydgoszcz to scrap its recycling scheme just before it is set to receive €85m from the EU for a new waste incinerator.

Earlier this month, local authorities said that their public recycling programme would close by the end of the year, and that recycling activities would be fulfilled by private companies. Poland only recycles 6% of household waste, according to Polish Green Network.
