A leap of faith is what will be required of climate negotiators when they meet in the freezing cold of Copenhagen over 7-18 December, a million miles away from the spectre of global warming that hangs over our planet.
“Only there [in Copenhagen] will we have the full picture,” an EU negotiator told journalists just days before the summit began. Decisions will be made “on the spot”, including whether the EU should upscale its 2020 emission reduction pledge to 30%.
