Continue Kyoto or talk with America?

The desire of developing countries to agree an extension to the Kyoto protocol is creating a situation in which important discussions are having to take place without America, journalists have just been told.

The G77 and China are determined to keep the Kyoto protocol going after 2012. As a result they are insisting that post-2012 developed country emission reduction targets must be discussed in the Kyoto protocol negotiating track.
