London Array wind project signs €2bn supply deals

Partners in the London Array offshore wind farm have signed contracts worth almost €2bn to cover the first phase of construction. Work to install the first 630 megawatts of generating capacity is scheduled to start in early 2011.

A contract worth around €1bn was signed in May and will see Siemens Wind Power supply 175 turbines. On Monday a further five contracts were awarded for the construction of undersea foundations, offshore substations and transmission cables.
