Two firms accused of REACH notification failure

A Swedish footwear manufacturer bearing the name of tennis legend Björn Borg and a shoe retailer could face criminal charges for breaching the REACH chemicals legislation following complaints from the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

The green group claims the two firms failed to provide information about their products within 45 days of a request, a requirement under REACH for substances of very high concern (SVHCs). It is now up to the police whether to begin a criminal investigation.
