New cross-border CCS demo project announced

A project to store CO2 from a Finnish coal-fired power station in depleted oil and gas fields in the Danish North Sea was announced on Tuesday. It is among the largest CCS demonstration projects in Europe, according to oil and tanker group Maersk.

The project brings together energy utilities Fortum and TVO and Maersk, which will transport the CO2. This is the first project involving the cross-border shipping of CO2, says Maersk. Siemens Energy will provide the carbon capture technology.
